Algebraic stacks offer a convenient setting to study moduli problems in algebraic geometry taking into account the various symmetries of the objects to be classified. This project will in particular look at cohomological invariants of moduli stacks of principal bundles on algebraic surfaces and methods for calculating them effectively.
