This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. To pre-image animals being used for 3D reconstructions from serial sections, as a method of cross-referencing the resolution of different forms of imaging and atlas construction. Cross-referencing will define the relative advantages and disadvantages of each imaging/atlas methodology. Fixed animals will be sent to you that are being considered for imaging. They will need to be handled very gently, without abrasive forces, to preserve histological integrity of the surfaces. Duke will image, and we will cross-reference our images across technologies, which will in our case eventually include virtual slide images, as well as 3D reconstructions.
