This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Kinesins are members of a group of ATP-dependent motor proteins essential for a variety of microtubule based cellular transport events. The goal of our proposed research is to obtain structural information for a motor domain of a kinesin superfamily member when bound to a proprietary inhibitor. The information we acquire will be used to identify the binding site for the inhibitor and to gain a better understanding of the conformational states of this kinesin.
