项目摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and mechanisms underlying the sex differences in ECG characteristics and vulnerability to arrhythmias. The overall hypothesis of the present study is that sex differences in myocardial repolarization are both heart rate and autonomic tone dependent, are due to effects of sex hormones and alter the propensity to clinical arrhythmias in the presence of structural heart diseases. Aim 4d: This specific aim will test if there is a difference in the ST height and other repolarization variables between subjects with and without inducible ventricular tachycardia at electrophysiologic testing and can this explain the sex difference in VT inducibility. This population study will determine potential clinical effects - and predictive value - of differences in early myocardial repolarization (IRB# 0278-033).
