This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Assess the safety and efficacy of smoked medicinal cannabis versus placebo over 17 days in multiple sclerosis patients with spasticity. Short term safety, particularly in terms of neuropsychiatric side effects, will be stressed. Spasticity ratings, cognitive ratings and additional global measures will be obtained before and after treatment with either placebo or active product for 3 days.
