英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We propose the formation of the Boston Medical Center Boston Obesity Genetics and Lifestyle (BOGL) Study team in order to collect plasma samples, white blood cells (DNA) and obesity-related health information from a large population of adults. All presently overweight or obese, or reduced overweight or obese patients, including current or new patients seeking treatment at the Boston Medical Center Nutrition and Weight Management Center (NWMC) who are willing to participate in this observational study, are eligible. The goal is to enroll 1000 men and 1000 women. Information pertaining to patient and family history of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity will be collected. Patients and physicians may decide on any weight loss treatment options. At 48 weeks post-baseline assessment patients will receive follow-up phone interviews or, if seen in clinic at week 48, an in-person assessment, to capture current health status and history over the previous 48 weeks. In addition, we will review medical records pertaining to the specified 48 week period to ascertain measured body weight, verify health informaiton, and to determine the treatment protocols during this period. Subjects will continue to receive standard of care treatment as usual in the NWMC.
