This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The goal of this protocol is to perform a detailed assessment of the neurodevelopmental and morphometric outcomes of the offspring of female runners, aerobic dancers and matched controls. These data will be used to test the hypothesis that the neurodevelopmental performance and morphometric outcome of the offspring of exercising women is inversely proportional to exercise performance. A battery of eight neurodevelopmental test instruments and two parental questionnaires, a brief physical examination and anthropometric measurements will be conducted on children at the following ages: six months, one year, between two and three and five years.
