This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Technology Platform Development: We will engage in plan to establish a Technology platform to enable the activities of the Fundamental Discovery Pathways. The technologies will also provide the sophisticated resources necessary for the patient-oriented researchers to translate discovery to develop new tools for patient care. This platform will be developed within the context of BioMed 21 at Washington University. The Platform will be composed of cores of Technological Centers equipped to provide both basic and clinical investigators access to high-throughput assay technologies, highly annotated patient specimens, and collections of biological toolkits. These resources will expedite the development of well-validated biomarkers and facilitate the mechanistic discoveries necessary for development of novel therapeutics. The Technology Platform Centers will be developed and managed by expert members of the Discovery planning groups with oversight by the Council.
