英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The RCRII Program at the Medical Sciences Campus (MSC) reminds as previously reported, commited with the development of the necessary infrastructure and support services to conduct clinical research activities and stimulate the clinical research potential of the faculty. Although many of the infrastructure and most of the support services goals have been accomplished, there is still a critical and very important goal to accomplish which entails the progressive recruitment of faculty members interested in clinical research and capable of developing individual and collaborative studies. This latter goal will remain a crucial one to be able to enhance the institutional capability of obtaining competitive, peer reviewed funded proposals. The principal specific aims also will remain unchanged. They include: development of a self supported infrastructure for clinical research, including the physical facilities as well as administrative and research support services; to enhance the research potential of current and new clinical research faculty, particularly reserachers initiated studies; to entarget programs or areas for development and to encourage in collaborative research between basic and clinical investigators. During the next years, four areas have been identified including: diabetics, neuroaids, development of the neonatal twin registry, and odontology.
