PPE Medical imaging resources for the school curriculum

This project is a continuation of the Maths, Science and ICT in medical imaging PPA project. We are looking for continuation funding to extend it into a new phase. This will involve designing material in partnership with curriculum designers and one of the major exam boards, and dissemination both through the Institute of Physics and one or more exam boards. It is especially timely as the exam boards are currently identifying teaching resources for the new Science 2006 GCSE curriculum, and from 2006, will be working on a revised GCE (AS/A2 level) science curriculum. Our project will result in material that has high visual impact for teenagers, is scientifically accurate, and is finely tuned to the new science curricula to maximise its value to schools.Based on our experience with the pilot project, we will generate material to illustrate aspects of the science curriculum, that will be available in two forms: * Material for use on interactive white-boards that can be down-loaded by teachers * Web-based material that can be used by independent study, or in a classroom setting.In both cases we will provide work-sheets to reinforce learning, exam-style questions for teacher-led or pupil self-assessment, and teacher briefing packs. We will leave it up to teachers to choose the media that is suitable for their classrooms.All material will be evaluated using questionnaires and structured interviews designed education psychologists.
