This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The molecular study will focus on the following: Investigate the mechanisms(s) underlying sumoylation and its steady-state level. 1. Evaluate the correlation between expression level of drug target such as RRM2 and SUMO-1 in human cancer cells; 2. Characterize the change(s) in sumoylation patterns elicited by treatment; 3. Assess differential signal transduction in Bortezomib compared to untreated cells using Real-Time PCR or immunohistochemistry assays.
