This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
In the fifth year of the COBRE program, the Administrative Core provided key administrative support. Dr. Stanton, the PI of the Administrative Core, was assisted by Drs. Joshua Hamilton (Co-Director), a Financial Manager (Joanne Tortolano), and a Business Assistant (Debra Barton). Under Dr. Stanton's direction, the Financial Manager and Business Assistant provided organizational, secretarial, financial management and programmatic assistance to the research projects and the Proteomics Core. Effort was also provided to submit a competitive renewal in July 2007, organize this non-competitive renewal of the COBRE, weekly journal club and Research-In-Progress meetings, meetings with the Internal Scientific Advisory Committee (monthly) and External Scientific Advisory Committee (bi-annual: the first meeting of FY 05 was held via teleconference on October 17th, 2007 and the second meeting will be held on the Dartmouth campus on April 23rd/24th, 2008), and meetings between Dr. Stanton and COBRE faculty/staff. In addition, the staff facilitated interactions with investigators located off the Dartmouth campus (e.g., Drs. Treadwell). This is also the coordinating office for Training Programs of the Center and it assists in secretarial, financial and other office support for the Proteomics Facility Core.
The Administrative Core also served as the liaison for interactions of its project leaders, Cores and individual Program members with various professional offices at Dartmouth, including the Office of Environmental Health & Safety (responsible for biosafety, radiation and chemical safety) and its associated Radiation Safety, Laboratory Safety and Biosafety Committees; the Office of Grants & Contracts; and the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Human Research Committees (as necessary). The Administrative Core was responsible for seeing that the Center's research programs and its membership are in full compliance with all relevant NIH, OSHA, state, local and Dartmouth policies and procedures regarding conduct of scientific research.
