Project Summary/Abstract The National Center for CryoEM Access and Training (NCCAT), based at the New York Structural Biology Center, provides access to state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) equipment. The equipment and services include specimen preparation robots, high-end microscopes with direct detectors, screening microscopes, and other ancillary equipment required to solve structures to the highest possible resolution using cryoEM methods. A highly qualified technical team provides direct support, guidance, and assistance, ensuring the highest quality structures are resolved quickly and efficiently. A cross-training program offers training to users across the full spectrum of skill levels and career goals. This is a request for supplemental funding to support a grid preparation and screening (GPS) service for cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryoTEM) at NCCAT. The objective is to provide urgently needed support to groups with limited experience in cryoEM methods and limited access to local facilities. The goals will be to support these groups and get them started, while also training them in all aspects of the methods so they can make the best use of every resource available to them as soon as possible.
