英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. ABSTRACT Dr. Lossinsky has been a user of the RVBC HVEM facility for many years. He has undertaken a variety studies related to pathology of the central nervous system. In this reporting period, he was interested in invasion of brain endothelial cells by Candida albicans yeast, and inflammation in neonatal rat meningitis. In the previous reporting period, Dr. Lossinsky visited the RVBC to use the HVEM for recording stereo pairs of his specimens, and the following paper was presented: " Lossinsky, A.S., Fiala, M., Mukhtar, M., Filler, S.G. Ultrastructural studies on blocking Candida albicans invasion into the human blood-brain barrier in culture by remodeling the endothelial cytoskeletal infrastructure. Abstract to be presented at the Society for Neuroscience Convention, Washington, DC, November 15, 2005.
