This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This core research project is directed toward the development, implementation and application of structural bioinformatics methods to protein structure prediction, loop modeling and homology modeling. Specific efforts have been directed toward the establishment of a WWW-based structure prediction supercomputer utilizing the BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) middleware (http://boinc.berkeley.edu) and the software packages CHARMM (biomolecular simulation package) and mfold (lattice-based protein folding code, part of the MMTSB Tool Set) or PROSPECTOR_3/TASSER/SPICKER. This supercomputing platform is called Predictor@Home (http://predictor.scripps.edu).
