This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium is an international multicenter study with the goal to organized international efforts to identify genes that determine an individual s risk of type 1 diabetes. This is a recruitment site where questionnaire data and blood samples are being collected from families which either a) include two siblings affected by type 1 diabetes with onset before age 30; or b) are of African- or Mexican-American ethnicity and include one affected child and both biological parents. Samples are collected and processed in the GCRC. We estimate that up to 50 families will take part.
