英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to identify components of the urine that can serve as predictors of the type of kidney damage that occurs in a given lupus nephritis patient and proteins that are predictive of treatment outcomes. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop markers that will take the place of the kidney biopsy in diagnosing and monitoring treatment of lupus kidney disease. This study will involve approximately 98 volunteers. Participants in this study will undergo a kidney biopsy as part of routine medical care. As part of this research, subjects will talk with the research team about their personal medical history, have a physical examination, their personal medical chart will be reviewed, as well as renal biopsy data that will be collected for research purposes, and blood and urine will be collected for laboratory tests. Subjects will be seen 7 and 14 months after the kidney biopsy.
