This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to identify genes that cause or contribute to age-related hearing loss and to provide a scientific basis for diagnosis, rehabilitation and prevention. Participants in this study will provide blood samples (approximately 2 teaspoons) for clinical blood tests, including genetics. Research to identify genes that cause or contribute to a disease or trait is an increasingly important way to try to understand the role of genes in human disease.
