This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The intended goal of this project is to test whether modulating the activity of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex with rTMS in combination with a diet and exercise program can modify two critical parameters governing energy balance: food intake and energy expenditure in a direction that could be beneficial for obese subjects. This will be a sham-controlled, parallel-group study.
