This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a semi-observational extension study of subjects with Turner syndrome who participated in study GDFG. The primary aim of study GDGH is to evaluate the effect of two years of early childhood GH treatment on near-final height. Furthermore, the study seeks to describe long-term effects of early GH treatment on middle ear and hearing function, and on coginitive and behavioral development. Because many subjects have received GH treatment since discontinuation from study GDFG, we expect the treatment regimen for the two groups in study GDGH to be similar, aside from their treatment during GDFG. This extension study will allow for the unique opportunity to obtain long-term data on the effect of early GH treatment on near-final height and a number of other important aspects of health outcome in individuals with Turner syndrome.
