英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
Purpose: To assess the clinical benefit of oral consumption of yogurt drink containing probiotic bacteria (bifidobacterium lactis BB12) on gastrointestinal function and symptoms in non-patients subjects with the functional bowel symptoms.
Participants: men and women of all races and ethnicity between the ages of 18 and 70 years old.
Procedures (methods): This is a 6-week probiotic food supplement, prospective, randomized, double blinded, placebo controlled study to evaluate the efficacy of a yogurt drink containing probiotic bacteria BB12 in non-patients with functional GI symptoms.
