ENDOTHELIAL DYSFUNCTION IN TERM AND NEAR-TERM NEONATES WITH PULMONARY HYPERTENS

Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in term and near-term infants. There is accumulating evidence, largely from animal studies, that abnormalities of endothelial function may play a role in PPHN. To our knowledge, there is no information specifically assessing endothelial function in neonates who have experienced PPHN. The purpose of this study is to provide preliminary information about possible endothelial dysfunction in PPHN using a noninvasive technique.
