项目摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The aims of this research are to: 1. describe and compare the particular immune and inflammatory system responses (including changes in catecholamines, cytokines, and cellular adhesion molecules) in healthy male and female controls to two levels of experimental pain stress conditions; 2. develop a new line of investigation for the principal investigator, who will expand her expertise in pain physiology to include the effects of pain on immune and inflammatory parameters, via multidisciplinary collaboration with nationally-recognized experts in psychology and immunology.
