英文摘要
Stimulant use disorder accounts for significant disability and dysfunction among Veterans. We currently do not have effective somatic treatments for this condition. This proposal will conduct a feasibility study to determine our ability to administer and complete a double-blind, sham-controlled randomized study using repetitive transcranial stimulation (rTMS) for treating stimulant use disorder. Half of the participants will be randomly assigned to receive sham treatment and the other half to receive active rTMS to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). We will also obtain pilot data supporting the efficacy of rTMS on reducing relapse rates and improving psychosocial functioning. And lastly, we will complete an exploratory aim in which we will obtain pilot data on the ability of fMRI scans to yield biomarkers that will be useful in selecting which Veterans would most benefit from intensive interventions such as rTMS
