Project Summary / Abstract The current capabilities of the Bacteriology (BACT) section in antibiotic sensitivity testing (AST) rely on equipment that provides inconsistent reporting and often requires us to fall back to methods that only give qualitative results. Both of which make it impossible to track any trends in susceptibilities. The Sensititre AST system provides consistent, quantitative results, and when paired with the AIM automated plate-loader, would increase the efficiency and accuracy of sample processing greatly. The BIOMIC V3 plate reader and data management system would give us AST breakpoints based on the most current Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines and quantifiable data that would allow for antibiotic resistance tracking. With this new data management capability, we would be able to participate in the NAHLN Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Pilot Program.
