Particle counter for evolutionary research

As a consequence of the allocation of finite resources, evolutionary compromises between size and number are recurrent themes in biology. This is particularly important in the selection of traits, such as propagule size and number, which determine the fitness of individuals. My research examines how differences in the number and quality of propagules at the haploid stage influence reproductive success. I have requested equipment for particle size analysis to facilitate measurements of propagule quality and quantity. This equipment will contribute to the training of students, and to research examining the variation in reproductive strategies in plants.
