The equipment sought will be used to support computationally intensive applied research in the Centre for Operations Excellence (COE) in the Sauder School of Business at UBC. In the COE, graduate students, researchers and faculty carry out applied research in collaboration with a wide range of public and private sector sponsors. Research projects focus on problems in scheduling, risk analysis, inventory management, system design and optimization in healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, the pulp and paper industry, transportation logistics, airport operations, workers compensation boards and other industries. Methodologies applied include linear programming, simulation, regression analysis, queueing models and dynamic optimization and combinatorial optimization.
