This multi-user application is for an Optotrak Certus optical 3D measurement and tracking sensor. This will augment the existing single sensor Optotrak system in the Motion Analysis Laboratory of the Human Mobility Research Centre. A second sensor is essential for (i) the continuation of current research projects, (ii) the development of new research initiatives, and (iii) establishing Dr. Deluzio's research program at Queen's University. The Optotrak system is a line-of-sight 3D measurement system, therefore, a second sensor is needed to expand the field of view, capture bilateral views, and to track complex motions. For the past year, the motion analysis laboratory has been using a borrowed 2nd sensor, but availability is now a problem. Dr. Deluzio has recently moved from Dalhousie University where he was the director of a motion analysis laboratory with a two-sensor Optotrak system. This equipment is necessary for his research program, and will enable collaboration between the two centres. This equipment will be used to support graduate student training in Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Physiotherapy, and Kinesiology as well as clinician-scientists, residents, and fellows in Orthopaedics. The equipment will enhance and expand the research environment of the multi-disciplinary Human Mobility Research Centre.
