Comparative genomic analysis

全基因组序列数据随着技术和知识的进步继续以指数级速度增长。丰富的基因组序列数据已经引起了分子进化方法的革命。随着全基因组信息量的增加，分析生物体之间基因组规模的差异并确定导致这些变化的进化力量成为可能。我对基因组学中的算法和统计问题感兴趣。该研究项目的目标是在基因组学的所有阶段，从序列收集到序列比较，再到系统发育研究，开发新技术并改进现有技术。除了大大降低对哺乳动物基因组进行比较分析的成本外，在该项目内开发的基因组测序方法将允许对与人类基因组疾病和癌症有关的人类染色体畸变进行详细的全基因组研究。该项目的其他组成部分涉及早期生物体的基因组组织，如最早的真核生物的基因结构和所有现存生物体最后共同祖先的构成。

Whole genome sequence data continue to grow in an exponential pace with advances of technology and savvy. The wealth of genome sequence data already caused a revolution in molecular evolution methods. With the increasing amount of whole genome information it becomes possible to analyze genome-scale differences between organisms, and to identify the evolutionary forces responsible for these changes. I am interested in algorithmic and statistical problems in genomics. The objective of this research project is to develop new techniques and improve existing ones in genomics, at all stages ranging from sequence collection through sequence comparisons to phylogenetic studies. Besides a significantly reduced cost for the comparative analysis of mammalian genomes, genome sequencing methods developed within this project will allow for a detailed genome-wide study of human chromosomal aberrations associated with human genomic diseases and cancer. Other components of the project relate to the genome organization of early living organisms, such as the gene structure of the earlist eukaryotes and the constitution of the last common ancestor of all extant organisms.
