Understanding mass generation mechanisms of fundamental particles

Particle physics aims to understand the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is making big strides towards this goal, in elucidating the origin of mass of fundamental charged particles, however, the origin of neutrino masses remains a mystery. This project aims to uncover the origin of fundamental particles masses using the Belle II detector at SuperKEKB in Japan and the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. This project will maintain the Australian position at the forefront of particle physics by developing new data mining techniques to expand the physics reach of the Belle II and ATLAS experiments to complete the theory of the Universe at the smallest scale.
