The research program focuses on the development of a bioassay platform that is not limited to a cell line or bioprocess. Non-invasive monitoring tools developed previously will be combined together and further developed. Plant and mammalian cells will be studied with the objective of increasing cell specific productivity in recombinant proteins by improving our understanding of the links between cell metabolic state and specific growth rate and recombinant protein production. Non-invasive monitoring tools such as in vivo nuclear magnetic resonance, for the characterization of cell metabolism and energetic, and surface plasmonic resonance, for the quantification of the medium concentration in secreted recombinant protein will be used. Works will also be performed for biomedical applications. The bioassay platform should enable performing optimisation of the culture medium composition, of culture conditions and strategies, and cell line screening. Ultimately, culture strategies should allow to modulate cell metabolism, growth and productivity.
