英文摘要
Information about electrical impedance distribution inside biological tissues is useful for many purposes, such as cancer detection and monitoring physiological functions. However, no high-spatial-resolution imaging modality for electrical impedance has been developed for clinical applications. The applicant recently has performed some theoretical and experimental investigations on a novel high-resolution imaging modality for electrical impedance: magnetoacoustic tomography with magnetic induction (MAT-MI). MAT-MI combines the good contrast of electrical impedance tomography with the good spatial resolution of sonography. In the preliminary investigations, the applicant has derived the formulas for both the forward and inverse problems of MAT-MI and obtained qualitative MAT-MI images of biological tissues. In the proposed study, the applicant plans to demonstrate that high-spatial-resolution images of electrical impedance can be reconstructed quantitatively from both numerically-simulated data and experimental data on biological tissues. It is anticipated that the proposed investigation will develop a high-spatial-resolution imaging modality of electrical impedance for medical diagnosis and therapy.
