The PV Pacific Sun is a platform of the Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP) facility.<br /> The vessel is a holiday class cruise ship (callsign 9HA2479), 223 m length (beam 28 m, draught - 7.5 m). It performs year-round cruises from Sydney to the South Pacific and tropical North Queensland.<br /> <br /> Bulk SST is measured by SBE48 hull contact sensor. The sensor is installed in the engine compartment at the depth of 3 meters. SST data (along with meteorological data from ship AWS) are instantaneous, collected every 1 hours.<br /> <br /> The data are quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology. The daily data files are available from eMII shortly after 0000 UTC.
