The Merchant Vessel Stadacona is a platform of the Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP) facility.<br /> The vessel is a bulk carrier (callsign C6FS9), 183 m length (beam 28 m, draught - 11 m). It operates around southern (SA, VIC) and eastern coasts of Australia (NSW, QLD) sometimes extending to New Caledonia.<br /> <br /> Bulk SST is measured by SBE48 hull contact sensor. The sensor is installed in the engine compartment and its depth is varied from 2 to 7 meters (depending on loading of vessel). SST data (along with meteorological data from ship AWS) are instantaneous, collected every 3 hours.<br /> <br /> The data are quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology. The daily data files are available from eMII shortly after 0000 UTC.
