Goal of this work is to develop quantitative measurements in scattering media for both high and low concentration constituents. One aim of the program will provide a better basic understanding of the interaction of scattering in spectroscopic measurements. Quantification of constituents in scattering sample by optical measurement is limited by knowledge of the optical path in the sample. We propose to use a ultrasonically modulated optical approach to gain a knowledge of the scattering properties of a sample and thereby, improve quantification of optically absorbing constituents. The basic information gained in this work will provide approaches useful in fields ranging from biofluid analysis to pharmacueticals and paint manufacturing.
