Cata-DyneTM heater is an explosion-proof, flameless, infrared catalytic gas heater made by a Canada based company, CCI Thermal Technologies Inc. of Edmonton, Alberta. The application of Cata-Dyne heaters is mainly for space heating in gas and oil industry in hazardous and remote locations. Combustion efficiency, defined as the percentage of fuel combusted, is a very important quality index of the heater. High combustion efficiency means not only low fuel costs but also low greenhouse gas emissions. If the combustion efficiency of a two-square-foot heater can be improved from current 77 % to 90 %, the annual greenhouse emission from the 500,000 heaters in use would be reduced by 1,000,000 ton CO2 eq.
