Electrocardiograms, cases of hospital admittance with life-threatening hyperkalemia, daily close price of a stock, the mean monthly carbon dioxide in the atmosphere or mean monthly temperature at a specific location such as Toronto airport are all more or less familiar sequences of values observed at equi-spaced time intervals. Human genes can also be stretched out in a consecutive order similar to the above sequences and their expression levels measured using microarray technology. Our research is focused on the analysis, prediction and classification of such ordered sequences of observations and this is important in many areas of science, applied sciences, medicine and finance.
