The main focus is to increase the operating frequency of low power injection locked oscillators to the 60-80 GHz range while improving phase noise, maintaining low power consumption and providing programmable output phase. One of the key challenges in doing this is developing circuits that can provide the necessary high frequency non-linearity to generate harmonic tones at multiples of the reference frequency. Moving to finer geometry processes will help increase operating frequency but we will also investigate circuit techniques like the use of Silicon Diode Rectifiers (SDRs) and Non linear Transmission Lines (NTLs).
