Industrial thermal power generation plants, which are equipped with natural-gas-fuelled-combustion systems, will need in the future to run on renewable fuels as one way of reducing emissions of Green House Gases (GHG) which is the major cause for global warming. The development of this technology will also help in minimizing the reliance on the petroleum sources (fossil fuels) which are depleting. Even coal fired combustion systems will benefit from being upgraded to run on syngas derived from coal gasification. Therefore, there is an unprecedented pressure/need for research on developing this technology; that is, running these power plants on renewable sources of energy.
