A machine tool moves a cutting tool relatively to a raw piece of material to remove material and literally sculpt the final part. Unfortunately, multiple error sources affect the geometric quality of the final result. Some errors may be anticipated with precision others cannot due to system knowledge limitations or inherent process variability.
