We request a C-Fiber 780 Femtosecond Fiber Laser by Menlo in place of a similar system that has failed terminally in August 2012. This system was used full time (literally 24/7) as a pump laser for our THz time domain spectroscopy system. The system is a workhorse for our THz research activities, and its failure has catastrophically incapacitated our group. In fact, in April 2012 we have been awarded a 180K 3-year FQRNT équipe grant for the development of novel photoconductive materials for THz detection, while in September 2012 we have been awarded a 360K 3-year NSERC Strategic grant for the development of the THz camera. All these activities are currently on hold because of the burned pump laser. Therefore, it is critical that we acquire a new system to conduct our research activities.
