英文摘要
This project aims to see what additional managerial insights may be gleaned by examining existing manufacturing schedules within Ontario Drive and Gear (ODG) and benchmarking them against ex post optimal manufacturing schedules. ODG is interested in characterizing how their current decentralized scheduling method compares to a centralized scheduling method, and to see what additional training may be provided to its schedulers so that the decentralized scheduling method may perform as well as a centralized method. The study's results will give ODG an understanding of their current scheduling process and how it may possibly be improved with additional training and new business scheduling rules. Canada stands to gain a manufacturing edge by showing its manufacturers that empowering their employees to set their own decentralized schedules can maintain production schedule effectiveness while motivating their employees.
