The development of catalytic methods for the formation of carbon-carbon (C-C) sigma-bonds represents a challenging and dynamic area in organic chemistry. That unremitting interest is driven by the widespread appearance of such bonds in natural and non-natural bioactive compounds. Consequently, the expedient assembly and/or modification of C-C s bond-containing targets are of broad interest and demand the development of general chemo-, diastereo-, and enantioselective methods. Carbon-carbon bond formation has proven synthetic utility in the preparation of biologically active natural products, and plays a major role in medicinal chemistry and the development of pharmaceuticals.
