英文摘要
The focus of this proposal is to design and develop a geospatial sensor web architecture for the Internet of Things (IoT). In 1991, Mark Weiser described a vision of the future of computing: "The most profound technologies are those that disappear. They weave themselves into the fabric of everyday life until they are indistinguishable from it." Many technologies have been seamlessly integrated into our daily lives and have thus become invisible. The Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) are two great examples. We give little thought to what our lives would be like without them. Today other new technologies, just like the WWW 10 years ago, are beginning to integrate themselves into our daily lives, ultimately with revolutionary consequences. The IoT is one such technology. Billions to trillions of small sensors and actuators will be embedded in real-world objects and connected to the Internet to form the IoT, and it has the potential to change the world, just as the Internet and WWW did. The IoT is a new paradigm referring to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in the Internet. The basic concept of the IoT is that everyday objects can sense the environment, can communicate and cooperate with each other, and their capabilities can be accessed by multiple applications via the Internet or the Web. By giving objects the ability to sense their surroundings and to interact with each other, the IoT is unleashing exciting possibilities for a variety of application domains, such as transportation and logistics, healthcare, smart environments, personal and social applications. However, the existing geospatial sensor web systems are designed to center on complex sensor systems and traditional databases. The objective of this research is to design, implement, and evaluate a sensor web platform that addresses the heterogeneous, resource-constrained, and decentralized nature of the IoT devices and the fast and continuous arrival characteristics of the enormous amount of data streams from IoT devices. This proposed research will have a significant impact because it represents the enabling technologies in order to fulfill the above IoT vision and has the potential to be used by billions of IoT devices in the future.
