RemoteTronic Corp. is a software and hardware company with extensive expertise in wireless sensor and ad hoc networks technologies and applications. RemoteTronic's mobile ad hoc network (MANET) products enable a dynamic wireless mobile communication network without the need of any established infrastructure. Despite the potential vision of RemoteRronic's MANETs, the performance of RemoteTronic's MANETs needs to be improved before widespread deployment of become practical. The goal of this project is to solve this problem by developing novel techniques that will improve the performance of Remotetronic's MANETs in terms of throughput and energy consumption; and thereby making their widespread deployment practical and commercially viable. In this project, a team of researchers at Carleton will collaborate closely with RemoteTronic to use recent advances in cooperative communications to improve the performance of MANETs. The scientific approach will be based on sound research principles involving literature survey and analytical modeling combined with extensive computer simulations. The outcome of the proposed research will provide potential knowledge and technology transfer directly to the Canadian industry.
