Ultra-High performance concrete (UHPC) is a fiber-reinforced, densely packed concrete material which exhibits compressive strength exceeding 150 MPa and superior durability than normal and high-strength concrete. The high amount of cement, silica fume, quartz powder and quartz sand in conventional UHPC cause not only high cost of powders in the UHPC, but also some drawbacks when sustainable development is considered. In order to achieve the sustainability development at low cost and achieve ecological concrete, a new type of Ultra-high Performance Glass Concrete (UHPGC) was developed through the use of waste glass materials with different particle distributions. A U.S. provisional patent application files this technology in March 2013.
