The imaging techniques based on stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) or coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) provide valuable and unique information pertaining to cellular and subcellular activities leading to the development of innovative methodologies for the early diagnosis and treatment of several diseases. These nonlinear imaging techniques have found diverse applications such as fast detection and identification of counterfeit medicines, and detection of chemical and biological hazardous materials. Typically, the intensity of the response signal is measured using a intensity detection receiver which ignores the phase. Here, it is proposed to use the coherent detection receiver which provides information on both intensity and phase of the response signal. Coherent detection provides the following benefits (i) the resolution of the image can be significantly increased due to the higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) provided by the mixing of the response
