The proposed research program associated with the requested experimental platform aims reducing soot aerosol emissions from engines for aviation, ground transportation, and power production. Production of soot aerosols in combustion remains one of the most challenging technological fields and the requested experimental platform is required to advance the field. Combined with the measurements obtained using the optical diagnostics equipment in the applicant's laboratory at UTIAS, such as laser-induced incandescence, and soot spectral emissions spectroscopy, the requested platform has the potential to provide significant contributions to our understanding of combustion generated soot aerosols.
