Energy consumption benchmarking at FORD Essex Engine Plant

The purpose of this project is to develop energy benchmark curves for the engine block line at the Ford Essex Engine Plant (EEP). The developed curves will be used to compare the performance of the designated line with similar lines in the most energy efficient plant(s) or to assess that line according to specific newly developed standards. The results of the benchmark studies will be summarized in benchmark curves in which the energy use of engine block lines at Ford engine plants is plotted, as a dependent variable from the most to the least efficient plant, as function of selected production parameters (e.g. material, machining settings, etc.). In addition, energy saving proposals, applicable to the Ford EEP, will be identified as part of the project outcomes.
