Theoretical life models help the test engineer to approximate the actual operational lifetime of a device based on the failure time obtained at off-design conditions resulting to a lower testing time and cost. The objective of the present research is to develop life models for an hydraulic axial piston pump. The test engineer has control over some of the input parameters such as the pump rotational speed, oil temperature, oil pressure, and swash plate angle. The objective of the present research is to provide a theoretical analysis on the effects of each of these input parameters on the performance and life time of a hydraulic axial piston pump.
